JAMES McGINTY'S STORY

"As a typical lad from Scotland my weekends used to be spent on the “sesh” and going to raves. Truth be told I had always wanted to learn how to dance but was terrified about the judgement of absolutely everyone around me.

Last year I decided f*** it and booked the beginners classes. The moment I hit purchase I was petrified. I nearly turned the car around on the way to the first class thinking “what am I actually doing going to this”.

No one I know had done or been to anything like this so I had no reference. From the moment I walked in (still s*** scared) I fell in love with the whole vibe of salsa and the classes.

Shannon, Craig and Olivia all bring a different personality that I wasn’t used to before and left me wanting to go back week after week and get better at what we call salsa cubana.

The beauty of learning and dancing with others has truly changed my confidence in both my personal and dancing life and the only thing I think now is “I truly wish I had started sooner”.

So if you are like me, wanting to learn to dance but don’t feel like you would fit in? Overcome that fear and get those classes started!"

James is a PT and has quickly become a valued member of our dance community. His passion for salsa has ignited a desire to visit Latin America and he is currently learning Spanish! Way to go Jaime!

“ I started salsa last year, and now I come around three nights a week when work allows, plus socials. I thought it might just be a phase, but the spark never faded. It's been amazing.”
